Most of the animals on a coral reef are very effective at capturing either zooplankton, phytoplankton or both from the water that passes over them.
Phytoplankton are the base of the food chain, many animals can and do capture phytoplankton directly, and the ones that can't, such as fish can still take advantage of the nutritional quality of these tiny algae by preying on small animals that do eat them (such as copepods, rotifers and mysids).

Our Phyto is strained through a small micron strainer before packaging to remove any dead cells so you get the highest quality phyto every time.
Phytoplankton Dosing & Storage
The dosage of phytoplankton added to your tank depends on the nutritional demands of your system. We recommend starting with 2 to 4ML per 10 gallons 3-4 times per week.
Phytoplankton can be dispersed into the water column or target fed to specimens. It is recommended to turn off your protein skimmer for 30-60 minutes after dosing.
Phytoplankton should be refrigerated. Settling is normal, invert bottle twice weekly to assure that the cells remain in suspension until needed. Use within 6 weeks of the date of harvest, we harvest weekly so you typically have 4-5 weeks to use the bottle.
