Simplicity DC Skimmers use an adjustable DC pump and needle wheel, regarded as one of the best methods to shred air and water in order to create micro-fine bubbles. The long contact time between the water and the air that our skimmers provide is key to successful protein skimming. The bubble plate, wedge pipe indicator, air intake adjustment and controllable pump allow you to achieve the best performance for your unique system.

Small, Quiet and cheap

Not much more to say. It's small, quiet and cheap (not cheaply made though). After a little break in time it worked great. Like the last reviewer I wish it had a gate valve but it's a small price to pay and really once it's setup you don't mess with it too often.

Smaller than I expected

With the pump on the inside this is much smaller than I expected. My old skimmer had an external pump and took up the entire chamber, now I have so much more room. I wish it had a gate valve but for the price this skimmer is world's above the competition. Easy to adjust and after a few days makes some nice dark skimmate.

Better than my old octopus

My dc240 works great and it's super quiet compared to my old reef octopus. The control is fantastic as well.
